HydroLynx Systems is recognized as an industry leader in the manufacture of ALERT Flood Warning Systems. In June 1998 HydroLynx purchased the assets of NovaLynx Systems, Inc., which included the entire Sierra-Misco ALERT product line. NovaLynx had acquired the ALERT hardware and software in 1992 along with the service and experience of many key Sierra-Misco employees. HydroLynx employs the same key personnel that have been responsible for the successful manufacturing of flood warningproducts as far back as the beginnings of ALERT in 1977.

HydroLynx specializes in providing real-time hydro-meteorological data. The 50386 SCADALynx product line expands telemetry options beyond the ALERT one-way radio protocol; data is transmitted using multiple communication pathways with mixed formats and protocols. Examples of communication pathways are: ALERT radios, SCADA radios, modems, telephone modems, leased-line modems, micro-wave, GOES transmitters, networks, and direct serial connections. Some communication formats include: ALERT/IFLOWS, SCADALynx, ASCII and MODBUS. The 50386 DCU also supports remote control applications including gate controls and warning systems.

HydroLynx offers the 5400 series satellite radio Data Collection Units (DCU) as solutions for problematic terrestrial radio paths or as redundant telemetry. The 5400 series DCUs transmits data via a commercial real-time low earth orbiting satellite (LEOS) telemetry provider. Data is routed to a dedicated server maintained by ORBCOMM. The client's NovaStar ALERT base station automatically pulls the data from the server via an Internet connection. Data transmitted from a remote station normally arrives at the ALERT base station within one minute.

HydroLynx Systems is introducing NovaStar 5 as the next generation of ALERT base station software for migration from the popular NovaStar 4X system. This next generation system changes the server operating system to Linux; the user interface to operating system independent, client oriented, web pages; and the database to an open system SQL server design.
